In a first for the state of Arizona the city of Phoenix opens the “One-n-Ten” high school for its LGBT students.This is quite an impressive move for the city considering it really has lagged behind in the gay rights movement.

It will join just a limited handful of other cities that have high schools for gays.”Everyone here is open and welcoming” Tyler, a junior, told a local ABC affiliate. “Everyone says hi, everyone wants to know you.”

The school operates mainly as a Arizona Virtual Academy, so students take academic classes on line. The school will also run a youth center for those struggling with coming out and support for them.
